Chapter Eighty Eight
Lance walked through the door later that night. He walked into the living room, where Sasha was asleep in Joey's arms, and Joey was watching TV.
"Hey Joey," Lance whispered.
Joey looked up without a smile. "Hey."
"What's wrong?" Lance asked.
"I told her that I loved her, Lance," Joey said.
"So?" Lance said.
"So, she didn't say it back," Joey said. "I'm going to bring her up to bed. I'll be back in a second."
Lance nodded and sat down on the rocking chair.
Joey carried Sasha out of the room, and returned a few minutes later.
"So what happened?" Lance asked.
"I was arguing with her, because she wouldn't let her emotions through, about Eryn," Joey explained. "So I told her if she isn't ever going to tell me anything then there shouldn't be an us. Finally, she gave in and told me how she felt. The moment was so perfect, it just slipped. I just said, I love you."
"What did she say?" Lance asked.
"Absolutely nothing," Joey said. "She just bawled..."
"Maybe she's too upset right now," Lance said.
"But here's the thing," Joey said. "I get this weird feeling that she still has feelings for JC. I know it's dumb, but I can't shake the feeling."
"I don't think she does," Lance said.
"But you don't know that," Joey said. "I don't know, I just sometimes think that she doesn't want to be with me, she wants to be with JC. Eryn was with you and Justin at the same time. How do I know that she isn't going around with JC behind my back?"
"I don't think she would do that," Lance said.
"But would you think that Eryn would do that?" Joey asked him.
"No," Lance admitted.
"Exactly," Joey said. He stood up. "I'm going to bed."
"So am I," Lance announced. "See you tomorrow."
"Good night," Joey replied.
