Chapter Seventy Three

Sasha closed the door behind JC.

"This is so cute," Eryn said, breaking the silence.

Sasha turned around. "Not really."

"Why not?" Eryn asked.

"One word. Joey," Sasha said. "I still really care about him."

"What are you and JC going to do?" Eryn asked.

"Nothing. Be friends, I guess." Sasha answered. "I don't really have a choice. But I want to be close with JC, so I guess friendship is good enough."

"I guess," Eryn said. She glanced at her watch. "Did I tell you I have a job interview today?"

"Really?" Sasha said. "Maybe now I won't have to support both of us."

"Hey..." Eryn said. "That's not nice."

"Truth hurts," Sasha smirked. "Where is the job interview for?"

"It's not really glamorous, but I don't care," she said. "It's for a waitress job at the diner down the street. I was there the other day, and the guy was complaining because two waitresses just quit. He told me to come by and give him my resume... so I am."

"That's good," she said. "What's his name?"

"I'm not sure," Eryn said.

"How old is he?" Sasha asked. "I might have seen him there."

"I don't know, maybe about late twenties," Eryn looked at her watch again. "But I better go get ready then go."

"Okay," Sasha said. "Good luck."

Eryn opened the door to the diner and walked up to the bar.

"Hey," the bartender said, turning around. "Are you the girl I talked to yesterday?"

"Yeah," she said with a smile. She handed him her resume.

"I'm in desperate need of help, but I am supposed to ask you stuff. Have you ever worked before?"

"Yeah, I worked at McDonald's when I was young, then at this clothing store that closed down, about a year ago. Since then, I have been off work," Eryn answered.

He reached over and shook her hand. "That's good enough..." he glanced at the paper. "Eryn Tucker. You're hired."

Eryn smiled. "Great."

"I'd like you about three times a week, maybe up to five," he answered. "And my name is Dave."

"Thanks, Dave," she said. "What are the names of other people that work here?"

"I am here usually by myself every night, and we had three waitresses. Two quit, though, so the other one's name is Jenn."

"Great, thanks," Eryn said. "How old is she?"

"She's 19, so she can work the bar," he said. "How old are you?"

"Seventeen," she said. "But I can do everything else."

"That's fine," he said. "I am 26, just to let you know. Anyway, can you come tomorrow?"

"Sure," she said. "In a month, though, I am going on vacation for two weeks down South, in Florida, I think. Is that okay?"

"Yeah," he answered. "I am sure that I will have my third waitress by then. So come tomorrow night, at around seven till midnight, okay?"

"Sounds good," she answered.

Over the next three weeks, Sasha and JC got closer, as did Joey and Sasha. Their relationship was getting stronger, and JC and Sasha were getting a stronger friendship.

Eryn and Justin didn't talk at all.

Chris was getting better.
