Chapter Forty Four

The phone rang later that night. "Hello?" Eryn answered.

"Eryn," a male voice said. "Hey."

"Hey," she smiled. "How are you? I heard what you said about me on MTV... that was really sweet."

"Thanks," he said. Voices came from the background. "Shit, sorry, JC is calling me. I have to go. I will talk to you later, okay?"

"Okay," she said. "I love you, Justin."

"I love you, Eryn," Justin answered, hanging up the phone with a soft click.

The next morning Sasha was getting ready to go to work when the phone rang.

"Hello?" she answered it.

"Hey," Joey's warm voice filled the other end of the line.

"Joey! How are you?" she asked.

"Great," he said. "I was wondering something... did you watch us on MTV yesterday?"

"Yeah," she said. "You looked good. All of you did."

"Except for JC?" Joey laughed. "Was that coming?"

Sasha grinned. "You know me too well."

"Yeah," Joey said.

"But you guys were really good, I watched the whole thing with Eryn," Sasha said.

"Did you see the beginning?" Joey asked.

"Joey, I know you are getting at something," Sasha teased. "Just say it."

"I have no idea what you area talking about," Joey lied.

"Joey!" Sasha said. "Come on."

"Fine," he said. "You got me." He took a deep breath. "There's something I wanted to tell you for awhile."

"This anticipation is killing me, Joey," Sasha said. "Just say it."

"Okay," he said. "Remember on Much when they asked me my current girlfriend, and..."

"Come on, Joey," Sasha urged. "Just tell me." She heard nothing but silence on the line for the next few seconds. "Joey! Tell me! This anticipation is killing me."

"Fine," he took a deep breath. "That friend that I said? It's you."

Sasha smiled, pleased that her suspicion was right. "Joey-" she began.

"I know you don't feel the same way," Joey said, cutting her off. "And that's alright, you know, I really do understand. But it was so hard not to tell you, because I just-"

"Joey!" Sasha exclaimed. "Shh!"

"Okay, but-" Joey began.

"But nothing, Joey. I've been trying to tell you. I feel the same way. I like you too." Sasha finally said. There was silence on the other end of the line. "Joey?"

"I-I'm here," he said. "Are you joking around, Sash? Because I'm not and-"

"Joey!" Sasha said. "Stop it! I really do like you."

"You do?" Joey asked.

"Yeah," Sasha said. "I do."

"Wow, really Sasha? I mean, I can't believe this," Joey said.

Sasha could tell he was smiling. "I wanted to tell you, but I didn't know if you felt the same way."

"I do," he said. "Sasha, I have liked you for so long."

"Really?" She smiled. "Um, does JC know?"

"No," he said. "Only Chris."

"Okay," she said. "My day suddenly is much better."

"So is mine," Joey said. "But, I have to go."

"Oh," Sasha said, her smile fading.

"But," Joey said. "I will call you later, and I wanted to ask you something. In a couple of weeks we have a concert in Buffalo. I know it's not too far from you... do you think you could come?"

"Sure," Sasha said. "I mean, if I am not working, and if Eryn wants to."

"That would be great," Joey said. "I really hope you can come..."

"Me too," Sasha said.

"But I better go," Joey said. "I'll call you later."

"Okay," she said. "Bye."

"Bye," Joey answered.

She hung up the phone and smiled. "Eryn!" she called.

Eryn walked into the room. "Yeah?"

"That was Joey! He just told me he has feelings for me! Isn't that great?" Sasha grinned.

"Yeah!" Eryn ran over and hugged Sasha. "Did you tell him how you feel?"

"Yes, I did," Sasha said. "Oh, this is so great!"

"Congratulations," Eryn smiled.

"Thanks," Sasha said. "And he wanted to know if we wanted to go to their concert in a couple weeks. It's in Buffalo."

"Buffalo?" Eryn repeated. "Sure, I guess."

"Okay, I don't think I am working, so we can drive down there that day or whatever," Sasha said. "I'll tell Joey later that we are going to come."

"But Sasha," Eryn stayed hesitant. "That means I have to tell Lance and Justin... and I don't think I am ready to yet."

"It's not for a couple weeks," Sasha reminded Eryn.

"I know, but I'm already nervous," Eryn said.

"Don't worry," Sasha said. "But you know what? I have to go to work... I'll be home at nine tonight. If you want, come pick me up and we can go dancing."

"No," Eryn shook her head. "I don't want to go dancing. Tomorrow morning do you want to go shopping for new outfits to wear to the concert? I want to look good for Justin."

Sasha laughed. "To look good for him before you break the news that you cheated? Great idea!"

"Thanks," Eryn jokingly gave her a dirty look.

"No problem," Sasha said, picking up her keys. "See you tonight."

"Bye," Eryn said.
