Chapter Twenty Eight

Lance sat back, unable to do anything else. His mind was on Eryn, and just Eryn. He was sure it was him she was talking about. All of the clues were there: She felt more for a friend, and she always told him what a good friend he was. Now he was just going to wait until she asked him to dinner.

***

Eryn decided that it was a good day to tell him. She was going to invite him over for dinner, after getting everyone else out of the house.

"Sasha!" she called. Then she remembered she wasn't home. "JC!" she said instead.

JC walked into her room. "You called?"

"Yeah," she said. "I'm planning a house date here, for someone special. And I need everyone else out of the house. Can you do it for me?"

"But I was planning a special dinner for me and Sasha," JC said. "I'm picking her up from work."

"Please, JC?" Eryn asked. "You can still go with Sasha. Just plan something for the others."

"Who's the date?" asked JC.

"Well, I still have to ask him, but I think he'll come," Eryn said. "You know who it is. I want to get back with him."

"Justin?" JC asked.

"Yeah," Eryn said. "I am going to write a letter and put it in his hand, then just walk away. If he wants to show, then he can."

"That's a good idea," JC said. "I will get Joey, Chris and Lance out of the house."

"Thanks so much," Eryn said.

"But..." JC said. "What if James shows up tonight?"

"Don't worry," Eryn said. "He's all talk."

"Okay," JC said uncertainly. "Well, I will go tell the others. What do you want me to say?"

"Just say... Eryn needs everyone out of the house. So be out by six." Eryn said.

"Okay," JC left the room to tell them.

Eryn sat down at her desk, and pulled out some light blue paper with a purple pen.

Come to the door at seven tonight. Don't be late. I have something special planned for us tonight.

Love Eryn

She put it in the envelope and sealed it with a kiss. She walked out of her room, looking for Justin.

***

JC walked into the living room. Joey, Chris and Lance were all in there.

"Eryn needs you guys out of the house tonight," JC told them. "She has some date."

Lance's stomach dropped. "With who?" he asked.

"Don't know," JC lied.

"Oh," Lance said. He wasn't sure whether to believe him.

After JC left the room, Joey turned to Chris. "I need to talk to you tonight. I have a problem about a girl."

"You? A problem about a girl?" Lance laughed. "I never thought I would hear that."

"I never thought I would SAY that," Joey said. "How about us three go somewhere?"

"Where are we going to go?" asked Chris.

"I don't really want to," Lance said. "Sorry, I think I will just go to a coffee house or something. I need some time to myself."

"Okay," Chris said. "Where should we go?"

"I don't know," Joey said. "But I just need to talk. Let's just ask Eryn for a suggestion."

"Okay," Chris agreed.

***

Eryn found Justin sitting in Sasha's bedroom, on his computer.

"Justin," she said.

"Hey, Eryn," he smiled at her.

She walked over to him and dropped the letter beside him. "Read it," she said, and walked out of the room.

Justin picked it up and opened it. He read it over, and smiled. He couldn't believe it. Finally Eryn and him were going to get back together. He looked at the clock. Only three more hours until his date with Eryn.

They hadn't even shared a kiss yet. Every time they were about to, they got interrupted. He knew what he could do. He turned on the radio, popped in his CD, and worked on his singing voice.

***

Chris and Joey walked into Eryn's room.

"Hey," Chris said. "We heard we have to get out of the house tonight.

"Yes please," Eryn said. "It would be really good if you did. I have a date planned."

"Okay," Joey said. "It's fine, but we need somewhere to go. And we can't go out for dinner or something, because we will look gay."

"Yeah," Eryn laughed. "Hmm... you could go to a bar... there's this place." She described it to them. "You can just drink beer or whatever."

"I would rather it be quiet," Joey said. "I need to talk to Chris, about a girl."

"Well, you guys can stay downstairs, or up here if you want. I just will need the kitchen and the living I guess," Eryn said.

"No, that's okay," Chris said.

Joey nodded. "We don't want to interrupt your date."

"No, you can. How about up here," Eryn suggested. "You stay up here, and that's okay. Just make sure you don't come down for anything."

"Thanks," Joey said. "That's really nice of you, Eryn."

"I know," Eryn said. "I better not regret this."

"You won't," Joey said. Chris and him walked out of the room.

***

Justin put the letter in his back pocket of his dark green cargo pants, so he wouldn't lose it, and walked into the living room to watch some TV. After awhile, he was over come with hunger, so he went into the kitchen to fix himself a snack. Glancing at the clock, he saw it was five thirty.

"Shit!" Justin exclaimed. "I need to get ready for my date. I have to make sure she doesn't get uninterested." He put down the popcorn that he was about to put in the microwave, and went up into Sasha's room to get ready.

***

Lance walked into the living room. The TV was blaring, so he shut it off, and decided to sit down and choose what he was going to do tonight when he had to get out of the house.

Something caught his eye. It was light blue. He picked it up and realized it was an envelope. Opening it, he read.

Come to the door at seven tonight. Don't be late. I have something special planned for us tonight.

Love Eryn

Lance stared in awe. It had to be for him. She must have set it up so he would see it right now. He saw it was already twenty to six. He had to get ready.

***

Joey and Chris went to McDonalds and picked up some food for the night. They took the TV out of the kitchen and put it in Eryn's room.

***

JC got into the car to go pick up Sasha. He couldn't wait for their night. Finally, they needed some new exciting romance.

***

Eryn began to make a salad. She put in all of Justin's favourite vegetables, and remembered not to put in things he didn't like.

***

Lance went into the bathroom and showered. He was going to use the other bathroom, between Eryn and Sasha's room, but someone was already in it. He was pretty sure it was Justin.

***

JC arrived at Sasha's store. Getting out of the car, he checked his appearance in the mirror. He walked up to the doors, and walked in. He couldn't see her. She must be in the back changing, he thought.

He walked up to Diane, Sasha's boss.

"Hey, JC," she said, smiling. "Looking for Sasha?"

"Yeah," he answered. "Is she in the back?"

"No, actually," Diane said. "She left about a half an hour ago."

"I thought she had to work until six?" he asked.

"She did, but it was dead," Diane said.

"Oh, did she go home?"

"No, I believe she went out for dinner," Diane replied.

"Out for dinner?" JC said. "Was she going to meet me?"

"I don't think so," she said. "She went with a co-worker."

Dread filled JC. "Which one?"

"The new one," Diane answered. "Shane."
