Lost Love: Chapter One

Justin sighed and two tears slowly trickled down his face. He was only eighteen, and his true love was already lost. As he drove towards the funeral home, he took a deep breath. I can't believe this, he thought to himself. It feels as though we met only yesterday.

They met in freshman year of highschool. It was love at first sight, and it was mutual. After a few weeks, Justin had mustered up the courage to ask her out. Of course, she accepted, and they were together ever since. For two years, Justin and Madison were inseparable. A couple days ago, Justin was driving to pick her up at her house. He let himself in, just in time to see her take a pill and pass out on the floor. He drove her to the hospital and they pumped her stomach. She took 24 pills, and was trying to commit suicide. She left Justin a suicide note.

When Justin reached the funeral home, he glanced at his watch, and realized that he was a half an hour early. Depressed and terribly unhappy, he pulled out the note to re-read it.

Justin, I am writing this to you, assuming you will be the first to find me. I had to do it Justin, I had to. My parents… they were pressuring me too hard. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry. Justin, this had nothing to do with you. The only thing that was keeping me alive was you. Then my parents got worse, and I did this. Sorry, Justin. I want you to be happy though. Find someone new, okay? Someone who can make you happier than I made you. Justin, I'll love you forever and a day. Love always, Madeline.

Justin started to cry. I love you, Madeline, he thought to himself. No one will ever make me happier than you did. Reluctantly, he got out of the car, and headed into the funeral home.

Eryn smiled at her reflection in the mirror. She just bought a new outfit earlier that day, and was modeling it in the mirror. She loved the way her new silk black flares, fitted silver t-shirt and chunky black shoes complimented her figure.

"Eryn! I love your outfit!" Sasha, her roommate said, entering the apartment. "It looks great!"

"Yeah, thanks," Eryn smiled. Sasha was her best friend. They shared an apartment, and were both seventeen. When they turned seventeen (their birthdays were 4 days apart), they both convinced their parents they were mature enough to share an apartment. To both their surprises, their parents agreed, with the only stipulation being that they were allowed to call and visit whenever they wanted to. "I bought it today when you were at work."

"Really? I love it," Sasha smiled. "What size?"

"No, you can't borrow it," Eryn told her. "Yet."

"Okay, then," Sasha said. "Hey, guess what I heard?"

"What?" Eryn asked, still studying herself in the mirror.

"N Sync is coming to town in three months. They're playing at Eagle View and at that other place. Downtown." Sasha was excited. "Isn't this great?"

Erin was ecstatic. N Sync was her personal favourite group of all time. "This is fabulous! When do tickets go on sale?"

"Yesterday," Sasha replied.

"Yesterday?! Ah, shit… all the good tickets will be gone," Erin frowned. "This sucks."

"Or does it?" Sasha smiled then reached in her pocket and pulled out 2 front row centre concert tickets.

Eryn screamed and grabbed them. "Oh, my God! Thanks so much! I love you, you are the best friend in the whole world!!!" She hugged her friend and read the date. Not for three months. "Damn, not for awhile. Oh, well, thanks anyway! She hugged her again, then ran to the phone to tell her sister.

Justin got in his car. They just buried Madeline. He leaned his head on his steering wheel and started to cry. My only love dies. I'll never love again. All of a sudden he heard the passenger car door open. Without looking up, he asked who it was.

"JC, buddy," JC sounded sympathetic. He pulled Justin over into a brotherly hug. "It's okay to cry. You'll feel better." Justin started crying harder. "If it makes you feel better, we're going on tour in two days. It will take your mind off of her."

Justin sat back and looked at JC, tears still falling down his face. "JC… come on, man. Don't you get it? Every song will make me somehow think of her. God Must Have Spent, Tearing Up My Heart, I Want You Back… even Sailing, man! I loved her. She was everything to me. My life, my love." He buried his head in his hands and continued to cry.

JC looked at his friend, totally unsure what to say. I have never been in this position. I'll just be there for him, I guess. JC thought to himself.

He got out of the car and ran to the passenger's side. He got in and pushed Justin over.

"Come on, Justin," he said to him. "We're going home." Behind him in a dark blue car, Joey, Chris and Lance followed them all to the hotel they were staying at.

***

Eryn sighed in happiness. It was the day after she found out she was going to the concert, and she was still as excited as the day before. She sat down on the couch next to Sasha and turned on Much Music.

A woman with long blond hair and a big smile was on the TV. Behind her was a poster of N Sync. Eryn tuned in.

"… -berlake recently announced to the media that concerts for the next few weeks, may be postponed. I repeat, Justin Timberlake of N Sync announced to the media that concerts for the next couple weeks, may be postponed. He won't tell us why, only that it's personal issues." The lady smiled a fake, toothy grin. "Back to you, John."

Sasha turned of the TV and turned to Eryn. "Shit," was all she said.

"Yeah, I know," Erin agreed, with a frown on her usually smiling face. "Well, there's nothing we can do."

Sasha smiled. "I know. But it's just postponed. It's not like it's, cancelled or anything."

Eryn nodded and walked over and sat down in front of the computer. With a sigh, she turned it on.

***

It was the next day, and Justin was just as depressed. The more his friends tried to comfort him, the more he missed Madeline. It's not like it's your fault, Justin told himself. But he still was upset. Defeated, he went into the bedroom he was staying in, and pulled out his laptop.

***

Very bored, Eryn logged onto Yahoo! Chat. Her screen name was Crunk_Girl. Crunk was Justin from N Sync's favourite word, and he was her favourite singer in the group. Going into the usual N Sync chat room, she sat back to read the messages flooding her screen.

***

Justin had to do something to get his mind off of Madeline. He decided to go into an N Sync chat room, to see what his fans were saying about him canceling the concert. He decided to go to Yahoo! Chat. He had been there before, so he knew how it worked. First, though, he needed a screen name. He thought about it for a bit. I know! Crunk_Guy. He thought happily. Luckily it wasn't taken. He figured it was because hardly any guys liked N Sync. He found a chat room, and quickly logged in.

***
Eryn was surprised to see someone named Crunk_Guy come into the chat room. That's weird! She thought to herself. Hardly any guys like N Sync. Maybe he's a fag. She quickly typed a message to the room and sent it.

Hey everyone! It read. Did you all hear about the upcoming concerts being postponed? It really sucks. I wanted to go. I think they are really talented.

***

Justin was surprised when he read a message written by someone named Crunk_Girl. She seemed upset more because she liked their singing, and not because she was in love with one of the guys in the group. He decided to PM her.

Crunk_Girl. Hey… I'm Crunk_Guy. That's weird, don't you think? How old are you?

***

A PM flashed acorss Eryn's screen. She read it quickly, and smiled. Then, she wrote back.

Yeah, that is pretty weird. Do you like N Sync a lot? Are you, um, straight? How old are you? Then I will tell you, after you tell me.

She sent it, and waited impatiently.

***

Justin smiled at the sight of the new PM. He read it over, then wrote her back.

I really like N Sync. They are my life. I am DEFINITELY straight. And I am 18. What about you?

***

Eryn wrote back as soon as she got it, ignoring the three other PM's from other people she received.

I am 17, too. But I have got to go. My friend wants to type something out and this is her computer, too. Please email me, I would love to keep in touch.

She wrote her email, and then sent it. He wrote back, saying he would as soon as he can, and she logged off.

End of chapter one.
